ABOUT ERICK

An ear for sound.

I’m Erick Vargas Williams, an Afro-Costa Rican production sound mixer and filmmaker. My work moves between narrative cinema, documentary and international television, in both controlled sets and unpredictable locations.

Directing has shaped how I listen on set: to the intention of a scene, the rhythm of the crew and the space a performance needs. I bring that perspective to each production, alongside technical preparation and a collaborative way of working.

Tac!El tiempo a otro tiempo

For nearly ten years, I visited Albert Robinson Roberts with my camera: an old family friend who had spent three decades living on the streets of San José. What began as an attempt to understand him became a friendship and a conversation about freedom, responsibility and time.
